} NCPA Presents 'Harmless Things' By Musical Band Kitchensink

NCPA  is all set to present “Harmless Things” by musical band Kitchensink on Thursday, 30th August, 2018 at 7 pm.

Kitchensink is a refreshingly original and sought- after voice in the independent music circuit of New Delhi, India. It is an active part of the independent music circuit in India. Kitchensink will be performing their debut album “Harmless Things” at the NCPA, Mumbai.

As active part of the independent music circuit in India, the band writes songs that combine the improvisatory soundscapes of synth-rock and crossover jazz with immersive and deeply personal lyrics.

Harmless Things is the band’s debut album, released in July 2018. The album features 10 tracks written since the bands’ inception in 2014. The songs from the album offer lyrical storytelling presented through soundscapes that are inspired in equal measure by psychedelic rock and improvised music. The album has been mixed by Miti Adhikari, a stalwart producer who worked as the chief sound engineer at the iconic Maida Vale Studios at the BBC Radio for over 3 decades.
Reflective of the band’s journey together, Harmless Things features ballads like ‘Four-Walled Memories’, a song about the delicate idea of ‘home’; along with the heavier ‘Funny Girl’, which questions prescriptiveness; and the serpentine ‘Making Meaning’ and ‘The Fall’ which yearn for closure through musical and lyrical ideas that gradually build and unravel.

Some of the bands notable performances include the Chandigarh Jazz Festival, The Friends of Music Concert Series, The DIY DAY Festival, a curated performance at the India Habitat Center, the Giants of Jazz Festival, Into The Void Festival - Rann Of Kutch Chapter, the Jazz India Circuit Launch, and premier performance venues like The Piano Man Jazz Club and Depot 48.
