Goa Sunsplash represents a growing awareness of reggae culture and will celebrate its fourth edition on January 12-13, 2019 at Riva Beach Resort, Mandrem, in Goa.

Founded by India’s long-standing reggae act, Reggae Rajahs, the festival has announced a bevy of names from all around the world, featuring legendary artists and collectives, and up-and-coming talent.

Performances are split across three distinct spaces – Arambol Groove, the largest stage where audiences are treated to live bands and iconic performers; Lions Den – powered by the handbuilt 10,000 Lions Sound System – which will host selectors and MCs, and Mandrem Verandah, which overlooks the Arabian Sea and will see DJs keep the party going till 10 pm every night.

Goa Sunsplash 2019 – Line-up

Names that are likely to get attendees excited this year include Jamaican reggae superstar, Anthony B. The ‘original fireman’ is known for his super energetic and versatile shows, and has more than 30 albums to his name. Alongside him, will be the Channel One Sound System from London, one of the most established reggae sound systems from the UK. A highlight at every Notting Hill Carnival – one of Europe’s biggest street festivals – Channel One was formed in 1979 and are pioneers in the UK underground music scene.

Also playing in Goa will be ZJ Liquid, who gained popularity as a radio jockey in Jamaica, and is now garnering new fans as an upcoming producer and singer. He regularly DJs at festivals all over Europe representing Jamaican music and culture. Egoless, a multi-instrumentalist turned dub and dubstep producer, caught people’s attention with his commitment and deep love for roots reggae and sound system culture. The producer, who has just been signed on to dubstep legend Mala’s Deep Medi Musik label, produces and performs using analogue hardware as they did in Jamaica in the 70’s.

Mentored by the acclaimed dub producer Aba Shanti-I, Kibir La Amlak has learnt from the best and has quickly gained steam as one of the most sought after dub producers from the UK. Like his mentor, Amlak believes in making music with a strong spiritual and socially conscious message.

One of the definite highlights of the festival will be Craig Black Eagle, who is one of Jamaica's most popular dancers and is coming to the festival, where he will also hold a dance workshop.

Other artists slated to play the two-day festival are Steppa Style, one of the first reggae, dancehall and jungle artists in Russia; Forelock & Arawak, one of the most promising voices of Italian reggae; Mumbai-based reggae and hip-hop outfit Bombay Bassment; one of the most vibrant sound systems in London, Reggae Roast will make a stop in Goa; Hyderabad-based DJ and radio presenter Dakta Dub; Goa-based French selector Rudy Roots and the festival’s own, 10,000 Lions Sound System will be represented by an international crew including Ninjahdread and Realoveution Hi-Fly.

It’s not just music that people have to look forward to. Activities such as yoga, meditation, dance workshops, massage, sound healing, martial arts, and social forums will make their debut as part of the programming.
