When girls her age were playing with dolls or doodling with crayons, Arpita Venkatesh was taking faltering steps to learn Odissi, one of the famous old-age classical dance formsArpita is not only a talented dancer but an inspirational teacher at her own school ‘Malashree’. She is a firm yet loving teacher when she perfects the postures of her students. She is completely devoted in sharing her knowledge of Odissi to her students, who will carry on this ancient art form in years to come. 

Guru Shri Muralidhar Majhi introduced her to the beautiful age-old dance form. Her talents evolved under the guidance of the renowned Odissi exponent Smt. Aloka Kanungo in Shinjan Nrityalaya. The veteran guru of Manipuri Smt. Kalavati Devi in Maharaas, has further polished her as a dancer. She has also composed and choreographed several dance items, namely Satyam Jnanam Anantam, Sabujer Deshe, Chatusprana, Odissi, Kathak & Manipuri.

Arpita is also a recipient of the prestigious Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Government of India. Apart from that she scored third in the master’s degree Examination at Rabindra Bharati University and she has also secured third position in Sangeet Bivakar Examination under Bangiya Sangeet Parishad and has a unique distinction of procuring Nritya Ratna from Bangiya Sangeet Parishad and Sangeet Prabhakar from Prayag Sangeet Samity.
